Just a quick update about some new title news (as I continue to wrangle my way through the seemingly endless journey to update all my paperbacks)…

Iarion is used to being the odd elf out.
Things are no different when he arrives at the Sea Elves’ forest, searching for answers to a question that has plagued him for millennia.
But the Sea Elves have problems of their own. Communications with their island cousins have fallen silent. They have had no word from their ruling lord and lady, or the Learnéd One Feoras—the very people Iarion had hoped to meet.
If Iarion wants his answers, he will have to help the Sea Elves.

Paperback progress report:
So it’s been some rough going… Feel free to skip the next paragraph if you’re not interested in the nuts and bolts of ISBN (AKA: that long-ass number by the barcode on the back of books) stuff.
[Publishing through Amazon from Canada can be complicated sometimes. I want to use my own ISBNs for my work, instead of Amazon’s, so Amazon doesn’t get listed as the publisher of record for my books. Fortunately, ISBNs are free here in Canada, and quite easy to acquire. (In the US, you have to pay for them, unless you take Amazon’s free ones.) But Amazon won’t acknowledge my Canadian ISBNs unless they’re registered through Bowker, the US ISBN agency. I already had an account set up with Bowker with all my previous ISBNs registered, but I had run through my entire block of numbers, and had to apply for a new ISBN prefix from Library & Archives Canada. This then required unraveling various highly-compartmentalized departments of Bowker to eventually find the right people to add my new ISBN prefix to my existing publisher account in their system so Amazon would acknowledge it. It was kind of like solving a very tedious mystery.]Once I finally got my ISBN issues sorted out, I had to puzzle through a few other data mismatch problems, and then an error message from Amazon about using the term ‘bundle’ for the Kira Brightwell collection, First Blood. (According to Amazon, ‘bundle’ is misleading, and implies the customer might expect multiple physical items when they order the paperback.)
*deep breath*
So. Long story short…
- All the previous Kira titles that had been published under Kat Irwin now have updated paperback versions as Jacquelyn Smith. At the moment, these are only on Amazon.com, but they will eventually show up on the various other Amazon sites, as well as Barnes & Noble. (They will also eventually get linked up with their matching ebook counterparts.)
- All the new Kira titles from this year are now available in paperback: Weigh In, In the Clinch, and Cornered. (Same deal as the ones above, listed on Amazon.com, etc.)
- First Blood is now ‘A Kira Brightwell Collection’ instead of ‘A Kira Brightwell Starter Bundle.’
- Fantasy titles will be updated in paperback next.
- All Lasniniar bundles will also be changing to ‘collections.’ (Which means changes to cover design, interior design, and metadata on various ends. Yay.)
- Paperback distribution beyond Amazon/Barnes & Noble is on the way, but is going to take some time.
…At least the writing is going well these days, which is helping me to maintain what little sanity I might have had to begin with before I got sucked into this quagmire, lol.
